Cricket Magazine, Oct 2021
These are a select few illustrations from a short story entitled “Craters” published in the October 2021 issue of Cricket Magazine. It’s not often I get to do a science fiction mystery story for YA readers. I thoroughly enjoyed working on this project and in trying to find just the right “atmosphere” for its locale.
In culmination with the death of George Floyd and the events of 2020, amidst a pandemic raging, navigating remote learning, and the heightened political climate, these were a few pieces created and posted on social media as a response. It was all parts reflection, reaction, ways of action, and wanting to be part of the change.
Various images created for MB Artists promotional catalogues over the years.
Promotional images for MB Artists and social media. I played around with different takes on fairy tale stories and imagery.
These are series of Halloween illustrations I decided to create simply to challenge myself. You can read more about them on my blog under the 2021 Halloween Countdown, during the last week of October 2021. I really enjoyed working with a darker, moodier palette as well as a variety of new textures I haven’t often used before. These kinds of challenges help me to introduce new ways of working for future projects.

Samples for the HAMILTON Graphic Novel were commissioned by a major publisher to present to the producers of the musical by the same name. The project, unfortunately, never moved forward, but the work was well received. The layout, art, and word balloons were all done by myself. The challenge was trying to work in all of the already edited down manuscript into the spread. At the time I made this, it was a challenge finding the reference to accurately portray what was happening. Needless to say, it was wonderful getting to know and love the music and story this way, before I eventually had the privilege of seeing the musical.

Pin-up Art of LAK6
I was asked to create an image of a new teen Latina superhero named LAK6, composed in the same manner as the Elektra Assassin Saga Cover by Frank Miller. Sometimes referencing master illustrators like Frank Miller, can be a valuable lesson in dynamic picture making. The piece that appeared in the comic, she wears her goggles. I created a version where her goggles are removed for my agency’s promotional purposes.
